Aloha ECORA!
Our annual meeting was held virtually on January 9th this year. We are excited to report that many of the clubs are optimistic about having a season (albeit a little later than usual). This is great news as we’d all like to be back on the water, in boats with our friends, and back to having a bit of competition on OC6s again (although, I’m sure that a few of us improved our small boat skills last year)!
Our meeting agenda was:
1:00 – 1:15 pm Welcome and Clubs’ Status
1:15 – 1:20 pm Review & approval of minutes
1:20 – 1:30 pm Bylaws Update Status & Next Steps
1:30 – 1:45 pm Financial Overview/Tax Update
1:45 – 2:00 pm Break
2:00 – 2:30 pm 2021 Race Calendar (& Virtual Backup)
2:30 – 3:00 pm Re-imagining ECORA
3:00 – 3:10 pm Break
3:10 – 3:15 pm International Va’a Federation update (IVF)
3:15 – 3:45 pm Elections (Vice President & Treasurer Positions)
3:45 – 4:00 pm Wrap up / New business
Jill Denyes and Monica Monteon were elected Vice-President and Treasurer, respectively.
We identified six areas to work on and discuss this coming year:
- COVID best practices
- social interactions between clubs
- short/sprint races as a way to expand outreach and recruiting
- elite coaching
- teams for international racing
- boat management.
We’ll be following up with folks who volunteered to help in those areas.
Races that are scheduled are now updated on our website. If clubs would like to send us more detail to include, please do so.
If you’d like to volunteer, or would like a copy of the meeting minutes, please contact the Secretary, John Cheng.
